MigrationÂ
Migration is an ambitious and deeply evocative sample pack created by composers and field recordists Susie Ibarra and Jake Landau. Over the course of three years, they traveled across Sub-Saharan Africa, Morocco, Spain, France, Germany, and as far north as the Baltic Sea, capturing the sounds of bird migration through some of the world’s most vital ecosystems.
Rooted in themes of climate change, the natural world, and adaptation, these recordings not only preserve the songs of migratory birds but also document a fragile moment in time — one that may never sound the same again. Species such as the chaffinch, chiffchaff, corn bunting, nightingale, flamingo, great tit, and many more reveal how warming temperatures, shifting rainfall, and desert expansion are reshaping their migration paths.
Recorded in UNESCO World Heritage sites including Doñana National Park (AndalucÃa, Spain) and Jasmund National Park (Rügen Island, Germany), the collection blends:
Encoded primarily with a DPA KIT-4060-OC-SMK, these 250 samples offer a powerful palette for experimental music, film scoring, ambient sound design, and beyond.
